Training: Metal worker in the field of construction technology

Construction mechanics are responsible for the manufacture, conversion or maintenance of constructions made of steel or metal which are required in shipbuilding, plant construction, lift construction, equipment construction, container construction, bodywork construction or bridge construction.

Duration of training
3½ years
Shortening possible depending on previous school education (e.g. 1 year BGJ in industrial or craft metal trades).

Requirements
We mainly recruit trainees with an intermediate school leaving certificate or a secondary school leaving certificate with a subsequent school education in industrial or manual metalworking professions.

Vocational school
1-2 times a week, depending on the duration of the training.

Exams
Intermediate examination in the spring of the 2nd year of training.
Final examination in the winter of the last year of training (after 3½ years).

Activities
Manual and mechanical processing of steel sheets and profiles, production of workpieces according to sketches and drawings, which are then scribed, cut, punched, clamped, formed, welded and screwed.
